Marie Greenwood was a legend. She was a pioneer who fought against segregation, graduated third in her class at UNC, and was the first black educator directly hired on contract by the Denver public school system. She passed away on Friday, November 15, nine days before her 107th birthday.
She leaves behind a shining legacy that the entire UNC community is proud to celebrate. Thank you for making a gift to the Marie L. Greenwood Teacher Education Scholarship in honor of Marie and in support of future generations of UNC Bears creating their own legacies.
